I have a friend Tamar who was named that for the same reasons as Allison's Tamar...they needed a name that would work in Israel and the US.

I forget how uncommon it is, though. I was talking about that Tamar and my dad, who has read the autism journal, thought I was talking about you. He could hardly believe I knew two people with that name!
