Comments: suggestions for new design?

Sorry. I can't help you.

Your blog makes mine look like a kindergartner's.

I don't know WTF to do. What the hell is HTML?

All I know how to do is type and click.

Keep it simple is my advice.....simple layouts are always more effective than busy ones. Try finding a nice graphic that you like and building a simple design around it. 8-)

What Mike said! Seriously, either build it around a color scheme or image but don't go nuts. I tend not to want to read blogs w/too many colors going on, or tons of flash, etc. You don't strike me as the type who'd go all spastic anyway. Pick something, like a favorite coffee cup or sweater or photograph and go from there. If you hire a designer, send it to him/her and tell them to come up with ideas.

I'm still working on mine (changed colors from blogger template) but would like to do a photograph for my banner. Oh, another thing I see amateurs doing a lot is using a HUGE photo or graphic at the top. Keep it home page banners long and lean up top. if I think of an example, I'll e-mail it to you.

as a first timer via blogexplosion, it looks good enough to me.

Things I like in a blog.

A "comments" area that remembers my info from one time to the next.

Links that open to a new page instead of taking me away from the original blog.

Photos that can be pasted directly into the blog. I like it when "stories" are illustrated!

And since I am repeatedly being told that the above content is "questionable" and it's not letting me post -- I like a comments section that actually lets me post. Grrr. At this point it has been rejected three times last night, and once this morning. I'll keep trying.
(I've been rejected three times this morning, now.)

Well, don't look at my blog - - it's mediocre at best, and I've put down a deposit with a designer to fix it up.

However, I really like Dell's Diner. It's super crisp and "pops", while being totally easy to read. I'm sorry I don't have the URL for you, but you can find it in the blog directory at Blog Explosion.

Good luck!

Toni, your site has always looked fine, but I'm sure I'll enjoy the redesign too. One thing I would request for the redesign: on your individual entry pages, the entry text scrolls across the whole window. The lines of text are thus very long and difficult to read. I like it better when they're in a smaller center column, like on the main page of your site.
