Thank you so much for the updates on St. Tammany! I think they will find that many many people did not evacuate from Slidell. I know people who did not.
Posted by CED at August 29, 2005 08:21 PMThank you for posting info about St. Tammany. I've heard little to nothing....and I have family there that chose not to evacuate that I cannot get in contact with.
I heard that the Movie Theatre and Books-A-Million in Covington was/is destroyed. They are off of 190.
Just more info.
Posted by Ashley at August 29, 2005 10:33 PMThanks for posting a little about Mandeville. My good friend was evacuating on Sunday, but she didn't even know where they were going at the time. She didn't expect to come home to a neighborhood, much less a house. It seems that Katrina turned slightly, and I'm hoping my friend comes home to little damage. I will search your blog for news of Mandeville. Thank you.
Posted by Nikki at August 30, 2005 06:25 AMThis is the first helpful information about Mandeville. Thanks so much. Does anyone know if the roads into Mandeville are open yet?
Posted by Leslie Pearson at August 30, 2005 10:17 AMPlease give me any info on Mandeville especially how I can contact any officials to check on my elderly mother and invalid sister who did not evacuate.
The are at 2535 Livingston St. in a small wooden house.
They are the only house on this small street and are completely surrounded by trees.

Posted by virginia Burggraf at September 4, 2005 07:02 AMI'm trying to find the whereabouts of my God Mother, Ruby Tharratt, from Mandeville. She has lived there since the mid-60's, originally from England. I'm concerned for her safety as her house is surrounded by large trees. If anyone knows of where she is, could you please let me know?? She lives very near the Causeway exit.
Posted by Sally-Anne Austin at September 6, 2005 02:10 PMI have gone back to Mandeville. Lots of trees and power lines were down with Old Mandeville area seeming to have more of this. We were able to go into our home in Greenleaves and get some things. Water was on but no electricity. Lots of trees down in the area and on some on houses. Don't know if there were any deaths in the Mandeville area but, if so, very few. As far as I know, probably any water damage would have been close to the Lake. We did not get down very far because of some trees down and electric power down. Look up St. Tammany Parish Sherrif's office
for information from them. Phone # for storm related questions is (985) 898-2323
