Comments: Katrina, Mandeville area

Please give me any info on Mandeville especially how I can contact any officials to check on my elderly mother and invalid sister who did not evacuate.

The are at 2535 Livingston St. in a small wooden house.

They are the only house on this small street and are completely surrounded by trees.

I haven't heard from my mother/sister in Mandeville, Son in New Ordeans or brothers, one in Kenner & one in Hammond.

I live in South Carolina. If I were to come to Mandeville, what route would I take?

I accidentally posted this under the Slidell news, so wanted to post here too in case it helps anyone.

My sister's family lives in Mandeville in Chateau Village on Kimberly Ann Drive. My brother-in-law was able to make the drive there from Pensacola yesterday by getting behind a volunteer fireman and helping him clear trees from the road. It took many, many hours, but he is at his home. There was no flooding and little damage to the house, but many trees are down everywhere. He did not see a lot of damage to homes in Chateau Village; it's just a mess because of the wind damage to trees. The water and natural gas line are working, although he does not know if the water is contaminated. Of course there is no electricity. He cannot go anywhere else because there are no open gas stations and he's on empty. He said he saw one other guy in the neighborhood yesterday.

I am looking for Henry Bradford & Coco, our little white bijon dog. Henry is 6'4", 68 years old and has white hair. He lives at 640-15 Tete L'ours Dr. by the Beau Chene Country Club in Mandeville/St. Tammany Parish, south of 190. He was the only one in his neighborhood that stayed because he couldn't find a place where he could keep our dog with him. He gave all of his ice away. He is NOT a resourceful person. Has this area been searched?

Trying to post a pic or two from the mandeville area. I live on Montgomory st and my house sustained only minor damage, but i would estimate that about 1 in 10 houses have a tree through them. This photo is of the shoping center at the intersection of west approach and florida. how do you post photos?

A quick note to say everyone is alright and in Natchez. Lots of tree damage in Beau Chene but no flooding. We hope to be home in a week or two when the electricity is back.

Daughter and son-in-law live in Sanctuary. Many trees down, some on roofs. No flooding in first part of area. Could not/did not go in back part of area. The area is being cleared frantically - saw many trucks working in area. No power. No water. Residents are being urged not to return permanently to area at this time.
