Happy First day of SpRiNg!
I've been pondering how to landscape around our newly built deck. We have tiers of retaining walls built at the base of it and the deck posts are unsightly so I want to plant things that will grow tall enough to disguise the posts, block them from view. I'm not much of a gardener so I want low-maintenance plants.
When my mom plants, she orders everything so each plant is equidistance apart - it's like you said, regimented. I like randomness, layers.

It's got to be really difficult to find things to plant that can withstand the snow and freezes you have. What zone are you?
