new design
Here it is, the result of my weekend project. I'm pretty sure I didn't break anything important, and it does look different! I plan to change color scheme and background picture on the title banner come spring. I will probably continue to tweak now too, maybe changing the font size (seems small on my monitor...) and such. But, leaving aside those (small) caveats, here's the new look. Comments welcome!

Beautiful! Love the banner. Works well. I do find the side color a little heavy, but otherwise, a good choice.

Hmm, are you still doing tweaks? The background color just went completely red after previewing comments, making it difficult to read.

I love it. (I'll have to disagree with Leya about the background color -- it's one of my all-time favorite colors.) The photo / banner is especially nice and poetic.

I love it! Even before I read that you are going to make changes come Spring, it seemed so appropriate to the Fall that you have been so enjoying the feel of over there.
